The Friends of St Mary's Church, Ross-on-Wye

The Friends of St Mary's is a secular organisation, independent from the church and its council. All money raised by the Friends comes from regular giving and from fund raising events, organised from time to time.

Its membership comprises people from all over the world who have a common concern for buildings of architectural importance.

Our Aim

The medieval craftsmen who were inspired to build our church, and the men and women who have modified it through generations since, have given us the best of their time in the name of their religion and for the community.

It is the aim of the Friends of St Mary’s not only to preserve their work but to build on the legacy by reinterpreting and remodeling, where appropriate, to provide for Ross in the 21st Century a building that is once more appropriate for our time but which also retains the best of the past.

This is important, challenging and costly work which needs to involve the whole local community.
